“Future Ready Checklist” tackles two main concepts:
- It gives students voice and choice with inquiry-based projects.
- It lists activities that cannot be entirely replicated by GAI.
This graphic provides a range of assignment ideas organized by key soft skills and competencies that will prepare students for a tech-driven work environment, including communication, collaboration, creativity and innovation, critical thinking, leadership, digital literacy and global awareness. This checklist is grounded in research that emphasizes the importance of experiential and collaborative tasks that require human input. In my dream classroom, students would co-create a list at the beginning of the semester, and in response to our learning experiences, they would choose their own project to reflect their learning. For example, if our class read a novel, I would then like the student to decide for themselves if they wanted to create a podcast, a graphic novel interpretation, or create a puppet show to exemplify their comprehension of the novel. My exemplar is followed by an empty template so that students could be guided to create their own checklist based on personal interests. Students in my classroom would be required to complete a task from each category by the end of the semester, ensuring their soft skill development was well-rounded.
