“The future direction of education will be focused on providing an inclusive and stimulating learning environment where every student can study successfully and their abilities can be nurtured and developed.”
(Xie, 2023, p. 2)
The current public classroom composition requires that teachers balance the needs of a high number of students with individualized education plans, codes, and behavioural needs. Inclusive education programs create equitable access to learning and opportunities for our students but also require that teachers differentiate in a number of ways.
AI can increase educator effectiveness by supporting growing classroom demands in the following ways: adapt individualized lesson plans for diverse cultural contexts and special needs, provide frequent and actionable feedback for students, create quality and creative content, and ultimately, save teachers time. (A.J. Juliani | Five “A.I. In Schools” Scenarios We Need To Discuss, 2024)
- Individualized Lesson Plans: By using proper prompt techniques, personalized learning materials can be generated including, “supplementary readings, study guides, flashcards and worksheets, interactive media, illustrative images and artwork, and simulations and games to enrich the learning experience (MacDowell et al., 2024, p. 3). The ease and accessibility provided to educators can increase their capabilities of reaching students in catering lesson plans that reach the student at their level.
- Feedback: provided to students by GAI equips educators with punctual feedback on a student’s learning, which empowers them to provide tailored support specific to each student (Xu, 2024).
- Creating Quality & Creative Content: Third, there are a variety of specific AI tools available to educators to help them enhance their educational efficiency through creating quality and creative content in previously unattainable ways, with little time. “The expedited creation of educational content empowers teachers to refine pedagogical strategies, ensuring that instructional sessions are both captivating and informative.
